Program

Riga State German Grammar School (RSGGS)   in school year of 2012./2013 offers to acquire 4 basic programs (7th   - 9th grade) and 5 programs of general secondary education.
In 2010 there were licensed and accredited following Riga State German Grammas School educational programs:

Primary school:

  • primary 2. period (7th  - 9th grade) education program (learning the  German/English language in depth)


General secondary education:

  • general secondary education program;
  • general secondary education program (learning the English language in-depth);
  • general secondary education program (learning the German language in-depth);
  • general secondary education mathematics, sciences and technologies program (learning science in-depth);
  • general secondary education mathematics, sciences and technologies program (learning mathematics and computer skills in-depth).

RSGGS has been offering students to learn the German language in-depth since 1962. Our school is one of the few schools in Latvia, which still offers to learn German as a first foreign language.
The German language programs (7th - 9th grade) students simultaneously learn German and a second foreign language (Russian or English), as well as school provides the opportunity to learn the third foreign language.
English language program (7th - 9th grade) students parallel to learning English also learn a second foreign language (Russian or German) as well as school provides the opportunity to learn third foreign language.
In two other primary school programs students can learn both - English and German as a first language and Russian as a second language. In primary school mathematics program there are more mathematics lessons.
RSGGS is trying to provide wider and deeper acquisition of languages and chemistry, biology, mathematics and informatics, creating opportunities for successful studies in universities in Latvia and parallel to general secondary education, the aim is to promote students competitiveness continuing education to another - higher level.
Since 1997 Riga State German Grammar School is the German language second-degree diploma (B2/C1) centre for students from all Latvia. The diploma can be used in Germany. This indicates students’ German language level and it makes possible to study in universities in Germany without special language skills certification. Teachers from Germany often work in RSGGS. 12th grade students with good knowledge in German are allowed to pass the German language second-degree diploma.
Since 2012 students have an opportunity to pass the international German language first-degree diploma (A2/B1) exam. 9th grade students with good knowledge in German are allowed to pass the exam.  Students of RSGGS with their knowledge and skills can successfully take part in many international and local projects.
